A new version of Windows Live Messenger has been released to the product's beta-testers. Big changes in 8.0.0562 compared to 8.0.0366, especially to the user interface and the contact list. The Sharing Folders feature now sports a status and progress bar, as well as an activity log in a separate window. There's a new voice platform, and overall improvements in terms of reliability (less bounced messages), stability (less crashes) and performance (quicker sign in process). Other changes include:Contact List

02-28-2006, 11:01 PM Not to mention it's now ugly as sin! Blech! What possesed them to make it so damn ugly, it doesn't matter which color you change the color scheme to, it all sucks. I liked it before. why? why?

02-28-2006, 11:30 PM I actually like the way it looks a bit or maybe I've gotten used to the uglyness, or perhaps my visual style and background helps it look better. Either way it is not bad, but I definitely expect a better looking user interface for the final build. Other than that the features aren't really intriguing to me and not that different than the current 7.5.

03-01-2006, 06:46 AM I am agreeing with Shifter, it's definitley ugly as can be now. They ruined it, I actually liked the default skin/theme, and generally I don't like default anything. I hope they remake it.

03-01-2006, 08:54 AM Hmmm... I got prompted to upgrade (can't login without upgrading). After it installs the upgrade, I try to sign-in and I get the same message again ("A newer version of the beta...").
Anyone else get this problem? Going to go try a reboot to see it that clears it up. EDIT: In spite of the implication from the startup message that you can auto-install the upgrade, you have to fully uninstall (Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs) the old beta, the download the new beta and install again. 03-01-2006, 04:23 PM I used to have that problem of the always asking, then when it said "Repair or REmove", I kept that window up, while having the MSN Messenger folder deleted, then I clicked Repair and that did the job. Annoyed the heck outta me last night though, why have this bug? Why have uglyness? MSN has killed itself trying to get to Windows Live.

03-01-2006, 10:54 PM I upgraded my beta without any problems whatsoever. But I sure do wish I could go back. It feels so dull and lifeless. I mean what happened to there trademark bright blue? The colors are gross, when I apply red, it turns pink, every color is sucked dry!
They better fix it for the final release or I'm not using it!
