Well, I have now tried to disable and uninstall ZoneAlarm - but without any luck!

I doubt it that Messenger Live Plus is going to be any help, as this problem not only pertains to Messenger, but to iexplorer.exe and wmplayer.exe as well (also, I discovered that som e-mails contain elements causing the same problems when I try to open them; the same thing happens when I try to use online services from within MS Office)

PLEASE! Any other solutions to this problem? It is VERY annoying!

Hi Xavis:

Have you tried installing the latest version of Adobe Flash Player? (see post no. 15 in this thread)

Xavis:

Try this. Open up Windows Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc. Go to the Performance tab. Is your CPU Usage always spiking close to 100%? Or is it doing this at random? Have you done anti-virus/anti-spyware scans on your system?

Download HijackThis and CWShredder here: Merijn.org Scan your system and post a HijackThis log in this thread so I can view it. Thanks.

All CPU resources are used all the time when I have any of the programs mentioned opened.

As I have already stated in two posts, I have thoroughly scanned for and removed any spyware/virus and so on recently with the help of some very competent dudes.

Anyway - here's my HijackThis-log:

Xavis:

Your HijackThis log appears to be clean. I've done some searching on the Net, and apparently a lot of people are suffering from this excessive CPU usage problem with WLM. Some people have reported solving the problem by doing one (or both) of the following:

1) Disable Sharing Folders in Tools > Options > Sharing Folders.
2) Make sure you have the latest versions of your video drivers. Download the latest drivers from NVidia, ATI, etc. Uninstall the old drivers completely before installing the new drivers.

Please post back and let me know whether it solves the problem for you.

My Shared Folders weren't even enabled - and I have tried updating my video drivers, but I have problems doing that, as my system won't allow me to install the driver found on ATI's home page. I DID uninstall the previous driver first, but it didn't help.

And please bear in mind that it is not just MsnMsgr.exe causing trouble.

This is a very strange problem which has me even puzzled. Try uninstalling all the shockwave and flash players in your system; reboot and install the latest Adobe Flash Player. I'll keep trying until your problem's solved!

VERY strange!
I have now unstalled all Macromedia and Adobe flash players, and downloaded the newest Adobe flash player (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...ShockwaveFlash). BUT, when I try to install it, I get to the screen where I choose language. I choose U.S. English and press ok - and then nothing happens! Any thoughts/comments??

Xavis:

Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility here: Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility Install it, read the instructions and make sure that all Adobe Flash and Macromedia Shockwave players have been purged from your system. Reboot just to make sure and go to the Adobe website to download the Flash player.
