Outlook has a built in feature to set up Hotmail accounts.

When settping up, Outlook will ask what type of mail server your e-mail address is based on. Select HTTP. It then asks who your server is. Select Hotmail n' continue on.

Simple as that.

You can access your Hotmail email if you use Outlook Express 5.5 or
above, you can use MSN and Hotmail email if you use Outlook Express 6.0 or Microsoft Outlook XP (in Ms-Office XP). If you want to use Yahoo in your Outlook Express, you should be using Outlook Express 6.0 or Microsoft Outlook XP.

Here is the way to confrigration OE 6.0 for Hotmail or MSN.

1. Start OE 6.0
2. If you want to password protect the local mails (in OE 6.0) then

fist make a new Identity from File>Identities>Add New Identity. Type your name (Identity Name) and click on Password protect and give the password.
3. Before setting up the Account, first log in the Identity.
4. Goto Tools>Accounts... a pop up window will open.
5. Select Add>Mail... Another pop up window will open.
6. Type in your name (like you want others to see "From" when you send an email)
7. Type your complete email (including Hotmail.com or MSN.com)
8. Now the Email servers, Hotmail and MSN or Yahoo aren't POP3 or SMTP mail servers, all of this are HTTP servers, select HTTP as "my incomming mail server is" then select my HTTP Mail service provider is, if using Yahoo! you should be selecting other.
9. OE 5.5 and higher and MS-Outlook XP take automatic server name for Hotmail HTTP server, this is the HTTP server id for Hotmail http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp for MSN OE 6.0 and MS-Outlook XP takes automatic server names for MSN HTTP server. this it the HTTP server id for MSN email, http://oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata.

I suppose, I had used it, and I knew the HTTP server ID for YAHOO I used it couple of years back, and if I not wrong I had got that server id for Yahoo from some software which supports webmails. I forgot it coz I no longer use Yahoo.
10. Syncronise the Hotmail folders, and select the folders ones you want to download in OE.

Remember: Whenever you send email using OE, a message will be automatically saved in send folder, this may cause out of space of hotmail or msn, there is no way to turn this off, all you have to do it delete or move the send emails to local folders.

For Ms-Outlook XP.
In MSO only the XP version support HTTP mail servers, and MSO doesn't supports Identities, so you can't password protect your local folders.

To setup in MSO
1. Goto menu Tools>Email Account
2. Add a new email account
3. Select HTTP
4. Type in your Name(as displayed when you send email) and email address(full email address) and the HTTP server ID, and username and password. MSO also supports only Hotmail and MSN emails, and have predifiend server IDs. but for Yahoo you have to select Other, and give in the HTTP server ID.
5. You are done.

Look Guys, Who is back... Must be bothering someone...
