After I sign in with messenger and just work with my computer without using messenger i get signed-off after a while without noticing it (i.e. the symbol still shows that i'm signed in). only when i wanna contact people or change my status i'm showed that i am not signed-in anymore.

how can i solve this problem? thanks for any advice!

I have that problem. I think it is because I was on AOL. It only has happened to me with MSN Messenger 6.0.

Had the same problem, I am behind a linksys router. Switched to MSN 6.0 and have no problems now. What do you mean by "Internet Gateway?"

i am connected via a gateway that has a broadband connection. this means that i have a fixed IP address in the LAN and the IP address of the gateway server is set as the gateway address.

i am not sure if there are any settings on the gateway that cause the disconnection of messenger on my computer. i dont have access to the gateway nor admin rights.

what do you guys think? is there anything that i can do to keep the connection or is the gateway server the problem?

ps: i'm a "he".

FYI

Since I've installed MSN6 the above problem has disappeared. MSN6 works stable and I don't get signed off anymore.

(maybe MSN6 has some "connection keep alive" function integrated....?)
