MSN messenger 6 history archives

The archiving feature has been added to Msn messenger 6 but the place where I would put a check mark to activate the feature is grayed out. How do I turn it on? Thanks all

Ok I see no one's answered this, is it cause no one is using the archive feature? I'd like to know if it works for some of you.

Are you talking about Message logging? It all works fine for me...I presume the lack of response is because people have no idea as to what the solution could be?

It's like the ICQ feature that lets you save the conversation automatically without having to save it to a file. I see the feature but the check box is grayed out. I can't activate it so I was wondering if i might be a bug.

Well from what i gather.... if you initially said no to message logging (i.e. when you first installed msn 6) it remembers it and greys out the option.... thats what happened to me.... i'm still trying to turn it on..... not working yet..... tried reinstalling

MistahMan - Try a complete uninstall of Messenger 6, then clear your temp files, download again from http://messenger.msn.com, then reinstall, making sure to say yes to message logging when/if it asks. If this still does not solve your problem, I would suggest trying an addon application such as MsgPlus! which includes message logging capabilities (even encrypted pass-protected logs).

On your contact list go to: Tools > Options > click on the Messages tab

Near the bottom there will be a checkbox with the words "Automatically keep a history or my conversations"

make sure there is a tick in there, if there isn't a tick, MSN Messenger 6 will not keep history archives/logs of your Instant Messaging activies.

Well that's just retarded. I see they're keeping on with stupid things like not being able to close messenger unless I log off Hotmail and now I can't use this feature unless I upgrade to IE explorer 6. Just dumb.

I would think that this would be a feature that one would be able to turn on or off without having to re-install. Odd.
