MSN Messenger systray annoyance

In MSN Messenger 6 and later versions of 5, I am not able to right click on the MSN icon in the systray and logout. It says I am still logged into other MSN sites and refuses to close. Even if I logout of hotmail it still won't let me logout of MSN completely. The only way for me to get rid of the MSN icon in the systray is by closing all my IE windows. I've gone back to MSN Messenger 4.7 since it doesn't do this, but would like to be able to use Messenger 6.

I'm using Windows XP Service Pack 1
I do not have MSN Messenger log on at startup

Does anyone know how to get rid of this annoyance?

ctrl-alt-delete and end the task called "msmsgs.exe" or "msnmsgr.exe". You can also hit "Sign-Out" under the File Menu, or right click on the Tray Icon, if you want to log-out, but can't get it to exit.

Just a side note, get Messenger Plus! and you will no longer have that problem, as it forcefully closes MSN Messenger when you click exit, regardless of what you have open
