MSN pop up ads

Was getting LOADS of pop-ups from firms advertising how to stop pop-ups. Also the annoying porn ads.

Here's how to stop them for Windows XP.

Go to Control Panel, Administrative tools. Then select 'services' and scroll down to messenger. Double click messenger and change 'service status' to stop and 'start-up type' to disabled. Click apply then OK.

Problem sorted. This will stop those infuriating ads and will not affect Messenger in any way.

Dont know if this has been posted before.

Yeah this has been posted several times. But at least our new members who haven't began learning how to do a search on this site will see this one. By the way, it is not related to MSN Messenger, it doesn't matter whether you are using MSN Messenger.
