MSN 6 Games and firewalls

PLEASE help me!! I'm using a router and I cannot seem to connect to any of the Games on the new MSN 6 (version 6.0.0602). Does anyone know how to get around this?? Say with port forwarding or something along those lines? I am running XP, and YES, the firewall is disabled.

Hi, I also am having the same problem. I am using Windows XP Home OS and just recently downloaded msn messenger 6.0.0602. Everything seems to be working just fine other than I can not play the msn games.

Can someone give me some ideas on how to correct this, please? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I might as well ask while I am at it too, do you know when creating your own emoticons if they can be animated? I have downloaded some from the msn site and they are animated in my saved folder but not when using the instant message. Is there a way to fix this also? If so can ya please tell me how as I have some I would love to use.

Thanks guys in advance for any help you can offer. *smiles*

Does anyone happen to know the answers to my questions? I would have thought I would have gotten some response by now.

I'm not being impatient, just really would like your help, please.

Second question: No, you can't have custom animated smileys. You can, however replace the official animated smileys with your own, but only you will see it, and people with the same msgslang.dll you have. Meaning, the version you edited.

You might, but the most proper way to ask questions would be to ask them where they are relevant. Post them in the correct forum and in the correct thread. If you cannot find a thread relevant to your problem, you'd best create a new one.

If you are behind a router or a LAN then you don't need a firewall. A router forwards traffic between several PC's, but then only the traffic that you said you want to forward. If someone from the internet wants to get to a PC that is behind your router, they're pretty much out of luck unless you have forwarded a wrong port. A firewall is 100% useless when you have a good working router.

But, port forwarding is most likely your answer. The tricky part is to find out which port the MSN Messenger Games use. I do not know this and I can't figure this out right now either, because I only have one MSN v6.0 client here. But, someone else might know and post it. Until then, Google is your best friend.
