Connection problem - Can't send messages!

Ive started getting a weird problem recently, i can recieve messages on msn 6 fine but when i send someone a message they recieve it *sometimes*
im not aware my mesages arent being sent until my friends keep askin im ignoring them! its really annoying i need to fix it!!!
would adding the msn messenger servers ip to my host file help? how do i get the msn servers ip??
please help me

I dont know whther adding IP will help you or not... it is because of your net connection... Contact your ISP and ask them to rectify the problem... thats the only solution for that... Also, if you are using win 2000/XP then, it has an icon in the system tray indicating connection (two computers are shown)... when you send the message and both the computers glow (blue), then it means the message has been delivered... no way for win 98 /ME
