Feature suggestions sent to MSN

Earlier tonight I was a bit bored and decided to email MSN to request some additional features be added to the next version. I just received a reply that they hadn't gotten my entire message (it was a bit long) and if I'd reply with the entire message, they'd "forward [my] requests to the Production Team for evaluation"

Here are the features I requested:
  • custom status - Messenger Plus! has such a feature, but it merely changes your screen name, not really the status
  • auto-replies when your status is set to away/busy/brb/on the phone/out to lunch/custom status - again, Messenger Plus! has this feature, and it works great with multiple auto-replies and time between each auto-reply
  • Save last status and Appear Offline when you log in - speaks for itself, but I think it would be really nice if you could set the option to "save last status" in the Tools > Options so if you keep your computer on, get thrown off of the service and it auto-reconnects, you don't get tons of messages all of a sudden because you're online again while you're still in the bathroom (just an example). The "Appear offline on login" feature could be a checkbox below the login button which then overrides the last saved status
  • automatic chat log archiving - set after how many days the chat logs get archived. The archives will then be put in a new folder with the name of the date on which the archives were created (if this gets implemented I hope they'll put the folder name in YYYY-MM-DD format for easier sorting or allow the date format to be customized)
  • Offline message sending - Allow people to send messages when you're not online. Yahoo has this feature (and maybe other IMs too), and there's even a paid service nowadays that does this for MSN Messenger, which shows it is a much wanted feature

I probably forgot something, but these are the things I could think of at the time. I hope more people use the contact form on http://messenger.msn.com/Help/ContactUs.aspx to request features. Maybe that way they'll realize what the users want instead of what the developers think the users want

Thanks id09
Maybe if everyone here sends in feature requests, they'll start working on adding these (and other?) features sooner and we won't have to install all those add-ons to get them anymore.

Looks like they reply with a standard email. Still, at least they say they're going to do something with the suggestions

what was your suggestion?

Im thinking if you tell them to add directions to rob a licqor store in my grandpa's old ford pick up, they would say that its a good idea, and would improve the software.

to me it looks like a black hole, with random names.
