Where are the emotions SAVED ?

hi .. I would like to know that when we save our custom emotions , where are they saved.. like if we want to format our PC, we'll lose those emotions .... so which file or files would we save and paste them after the format, causing the emotions to be where they were !!

To back those up, the location depends on your OS. But if you are using Windows XP, go to:

C:\Documents and Settings\*UserName*\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\*NumberedFolder*\CustomEmoticons

The emoticons are listed as .tmp files, simply change them back to there original extension,(ie: .gif) to view.

They are saved as .dat file, not .tmp! And if you cannot get .gif to work, use .png

thanks a LOT ... so can I save that files under the CUSTOM EMOTIONS folder and when paster them on which computer I want .. will it work ?

I doubt it, you'll likely have to re-add them through the MSN interface still. But you can try copying the whole folder and replacing the newly installed one, but I wouldn't count on it.

yeah .... it says that I have to re install my emotions and these emotions wont work ....! but thanks ANYWAY ....
