Problems with messenger

i had gotten the 6.1.211 release before it was posted on any news site and it was working well.then for some reason I ran it one day and it said its not configured properly, try to reinstall. I have done this many times and it still gave me that error. I downgraded to 6.0 and all was well until I got back from an Easter trip. it told me I had to download the newest version or msger wouldnt work so I downloaded it and tried. again I got the error message so I tried reinstalling it yet again to get the msg. I downloaded windows messenger(i previously uninstalled it completely) and after installing it I got the same error as MSN msger. can someone please help its pissing me off

Clearly the first 6.1 copy you downloaded was a leaked copy and prone to have bugs, as for the rest -- how exactly are you going about uninstalling versions? And where are you downloading these newer setup files (if not from the official MSN website)?

i go into add remove through control panel.i download the new copy from the MSN site each time. by the way the copy I had wasnt released it was on messenger.msn.com, just I got it the day they changed it and news doesnt get around until I guess the next day. I am currently going to try removing every registry file and re install it after that. if you have other ideas please post
