MSN Messenger 6.2 Automatically Logs me Out

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum.

I'm sure many other people have been having this problem with MSN 6.2. Every so often it just automatically logs me out. I'll be sitting there chatting with someone, or just leaving it alone, and it will just log me out automatically. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I'd appreciate it a lot

Thanks all

Hi Dutch_Touch, welcome to the forum.

What type of Internet connection do you have, and are you running any programs at the same time as MSN Messenger, which could be creating alot of Internet traffic?

Thanks.

Thanks for replying martin.

I have a cable internet connection that is split on a router between me and my roomates computer. And the programs I run at the same time that take up any of my internet connection are only Internet Explorer and Kazaa (rarely).

Thanks

How about firewalls and such?

I thought about that, and I disabled firewalls with Windows, although it still happens. I still get logged off randomly.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

I don't think it would be a firewall, as this would prevent you from signing in at all. I don't think it would be the cause of getting logged out.

Does the problem happen more frequently when you're running Kazaa? Kazaa does create alot of Internet traffic, what with uploading and downloading from and to each other.

No I seriously doubt it has anything to do with Kazaa, I barely ever run it. Especially in the past week or so I haven't ran it at all, and that's when this started happening. I still keep getting randomly logged off of MSN

Ok then, I was just speculating that it might have been Kazaa.

Aside from that, i'm out of ideas, i'll have a scan around the net for you and see if I can find anything. I'll edit this post with it later.

I'm seeing the same thing, with version 6.2.137. This is with dsl, no local firewall, and Microsoft outlook is running at the same time. Does anyone know how to fix this?
