Messenger locks up halfway through sign in.

All of a suddon, when I login into messenger, it will load my contact list..and then lockup. It shows my entire contact list as offline, the little popup that shows your emails never shows..and if I try to click the messener window it just turns white and says "not responding" I have tried loggin in and letting it sit to see if it will load eventually and it will not.

I have reinstalled it about 4 times, rebooted numerous times, cleared the registry, and even today tried to download the 7.0 Beta and it will not log in either.

I have made no changes to my computer. I used my scanner yesterday and after that is when the problem began, but I dont see how that could cause a problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Just wanted to add I have tried signing in with a different name and that will not work either.

try portforwarding on the MSN port (port 1863? search around for it cuz im not sure) if you have a router. This was happening to me and finally I tried port forwarding, and it worked fine. Also you can search around on hwo to do port forwarding if you dont know.
