MSN Crashing/Freezing on Connect

Ive recently gotten a problem with my msn. What happens is it crashes or freezes everytime I try to log in. It shows it as if im logged it, partially loads my contact list and then freezes. I recently installed messenger discovery only to uninstall it soon after. Thats when the problem started. Since then I have tried reinstalling Messenger, reinstalling and uninstalling messenger discovery again, and cleaning out my registry. Nothing is working. Also, when I first went to sign in, my messenger did some troubleshooting connect thingy (before the freezing problem) and it said it changed some settings. This could be the problem, but im not sure because when I reinstalled messenger discovery, it did the same thing again and it still froze. If anyone could help me with this, that would be AWESOME. Thanks so much.

PS. im very doubtful that its a hardware issue, most likely something with network/internet settings. Also I have no firewall or anything like that.

Messenger Discovery is the problem I'm afraid. Same thing happened to me. I uninstalled it and it got better.

but I uninstalled messenger discovery, and its still freezing up right after it signs in. Ugh this is so annoying

Have you checked for Spyware?....cleaned out your regestry?..what OS are you running on?...

windows XP, ive cleaned out some of my registry, but only manually. Can you tell me where I can find a program that does it for you? ALso I jus found out that it onyl freezes temporarily. If I wait a while, it works again, which is QUITE annoying. ANyways if you could still help me that would be great.

PS Sometimes it signs in, sometimes it goes back to the sign in screen

fixed my msn, set up port forawrding for port 1863 or something...
