MSN Msgr Support Finally Gives-up

After several emails, trials and tribulations, it appears the MSN Messenger Support folks finally admit defeat - and by the looks of it, if I'm reading it right, also admit it was their doing/undoing. Also note their cop-out by trying to blame the computer manufacturer, after being told in an earlier email that I did have V6.2 installed and working fine, but uninstalled it at the suggestion of my ISP to resolve a connectivity issue. Here is their response:

"As I read through the thread of this email, everything seems to have been exhausted. Doing uninstall/reinstall, doing regedit and disabling the startup items. To be honest with you, we have no other troubleshooting steps to give you and it seems that the configuration of your Windows XP together with your service pack 2 might be hindering you from installing the MSN Messenger correctly.

There are a lot of factors that may affect the unsuccessful installation of a software that mostly leads to Windows. We humbly ask you to contact your OEM (Original Equiptment Manufacturer) to double check on the settings and your windows configuration."

I have tried all of the suggested fixes posted here, and needless to say, I'm still not there... and I might as well give-up until Microsoft fixes its own creation.

I must agree with you. But you also must keep in mind that there is only so much that can be done through email when trying to get help w/ MSN messenger and other programs. But I'd suggest trying something other than msn, like GAIM, aMSN, Trillian, Miranda, and Simple Instant messenger.

here's the links

Trillian- www.ceruleanstudios.com
GAIM- gaim.sourceforge.net
aMSN- amsn.sourceforge.net
Miranda- www.miranda-im.org
Simple Instant Messenger- sim-icq.sourceforge.net
