    Sharing your listening tastes online

The more observant among you may have noticed some of the members here use Audio-Tracker images in their signature. This works in conjunction with a WinAmp plug-in that then dynamically creates an image that shows your last played song. People can use these in their blog, web site or forum signatures.

Today I ran across an alternative that looks even better. Listen-To.com provides the same functionality as Audio-Tracker, and then some. It gives you greater control over the format of your signature image. It has plug-ins for WinAmp, Windows Media Player 9, MusicMatch and most popular audio players. And it can output more than just images.

Another cool thing is that Listen-To keeps stats that will show your favorite artists, album, song, genre, and so on.

What's really unique is the ability to join Listen-To groups. These groups report all the same "favorites" data, but combined among everyone in the group. It's an interesting way to see what others in your group are interested in.

I've setup a group for BigBlueBall members. Just create an account, then request an invitation to the BigBlueBall group. All the information on the codes to use to generate your signature image is there on their web site.

Have fun, and let's see what everyone is listening to!

You have to make sure it has the appropriate tags, like author, and title, and i think it requires album, and also , you have to play through one third of the song for it to list it.

Lately, I've had nothing but problems using Audio-tracker's servers, I took it out of my sig yesterday as it had not updated my last played track for over a week. And conviently enough, Jeff here shows us a very formidle replacement. This is a great audio service. So many options for output, not only a great amount of compatible media players, but signature options as well. And if you join the BigBlueBall group, you can track what we are all listening to.

I thought i had found a great new service over Audio-tracker but i guess i havent. Its a very nice site but my image takes about 5 minutes too update on broadband. Too long for me....I guess im going back to audio-tracker but will keep both plugins installed so i can keep updating my Listen-To image for the BBB group.
