Google Maps and your privacy

Some people have expressed concern that Google Maps' latest "street view" feature (still only available in some cities like San Francisco) may be an invasion of privacy.

Here's the truth behind it:

Food for thought, anyway.

You can't go by what it does today. You have to assume this is just the start and eventually will evolve into much more.

Yeah, the government is watching us all, the moon landing was fake, and your hat is nice and shiny.

All I said was that the quality was going to get better and the coverage was going to get better. So you can't go by what it does today but you have to look into the future. What's that got to do with moon landings 40 years ago? But some tin foil might keep the sun from getting to you like it seems to be from your reaction to the absolute facts regarding the technology getting better.

I think this is really neat.

It would be amazing if they added Toronto into the mix.. I haven't lived in Toronto since I was 9, and obviously things have changed, so I think it would be a huge benefit to experience the city in the comfort of my home so when I do make the travel, I don't feel like a tourist in my own backyard, so to speak.

Actually, that isn't what you said. This is what you said:

I don't know what the hell you're talking about, you made no mention of technology getting better.

They've (recently) added a LOT more data, even my small (40k) hometown in CT is covered. Toronto just might be coming very soon.

Clever stuff!

Wish they would update our area the shot must have been taken 3 years ago. Had to laugh on the way to work the other day, a presenter on the radio thought googlemaps was live, and if she were to wave out the window her friends would be able to see her :0)

For the longest time, I thought that googlemaps was somewhat live too...I had no idea how they had cameras EVERYWHERE. But eventually, I learned how they did it. I use streetview all the time- it helps me scope out a new business or restaurant I'm going to so I know what it looks like and then neighborhood of houses or apartment complexes that I'm looking to rent.

"Look away!" I've seen that video before, but it's still funny as hell.
