Deleting account?

Is there a way to delete one's account from message boards? Over the years, I've signed up on so many but would like to narrow that down and actually delete myself from many.

Hi TxSandMom.

Hmmm....I believe one would have to contact the admin. or owner of the site to delete their account.

I have been a member of a few, and that's what I had to do. I looked for an option in "my account" and such but never found a "delete account" button in any of them.

Good luck with cleaning up!

You could just leave it there... what does it matter?

Yeah, I know. But I'm anal and really cautious. I'd just rather delete all the I can that I know I don't need anymore. Or want.

TxSandMom, I'm the same way. I don't like to have too many accounts on sites that I never use and never anticipate using ever again. There is also the privacy issue that your account contains some information about you that could potentially be leaked by poor website management.

However, many times, in the interest of record keeping, account deletion from forums is disallowed. What I do in that case is simply remove all of the information from my profile and change my email address to a fake webmail address that cannot be traced to me.
