IP address
Can anyone tell me why Odigo has an option for a visible IP address?

Why indeed! Exposing your IP address makes it that much easier and attractive for a hacker to sniff your system for open ports.
I recommend you keep it private.

AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I know what you mean. Mine is hidden, but one person on the details showed their IP and I tried to tell them to hide it...but they never replied.

id yr on dial up, yr ip address changes every tyme u log on the net (so i was told by my internet providers) so if u leave yr ip address in there, and yr on dial up, like me, and yr ip address changes, a hacker cant use that ip address to 'hack' correct??

That would be true if it were a static field, but Odigo "knows" your real IP address each time you sign into Odigo. The IP field is not something you fill in; it's automatically filled in based on whatever your IP address is when you connect to Odigo.
So Rustedtight is correct, and you are wrong. Happens to the best of us. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Really, theres little point to hiding your IP address, your sending it out to every connection you make in IM.
How to learn the IP address of the buddy messageing you?
If yr using windows, simply run netstat in a dos window n read it there in the active connections.
You cant hide your IP cos it is your web identity this session and your location, Your not 'fred bloggs', 'super stud' or 'dainty lady', those are only ppl friendly names. I'm not 'rustedtight' but 203.134.81.148. (right now only).
Hope this helps explain.
