Miranda beats Trillian clearly.

Trillian compared to Miranda is like AIM to ICQ. The difference is so large.

You must try miranda, okay, it takes some time to explore itīs possibilities, but itīs very worth it. Itīs not difficult. Come on girls.

Itīs an open source project, free of charge for ever and free of adverstising of course. It offers much more functions than Trillian 2.0 with all plugins implemented. There are 200 complex plugins to chosse from and the design is very flexible. Add a tooptoolbar, Orion Cut three background and muggzless icons for example.

Miranda is the only messenger that allows to control, not only to have, more than thousand buddies in all networks. You really will know them all, not only have in list. Not only the quick search database plugin, you have exclusive histories not only for messages, also for statuses, last seen dates and such things.

Let a bot set your status message, talk to your friends like a human being. Be aware who reads your status message.

In the moment you hold the mouse over somebody in contact list (can be stored online, too) you see details, remarks and a photo about him if you wish so.

There are numerous other features and just the best and coolest community. Import your ICQ history as well as your buddies from ICQ, AOLs ICQ Server and Trillian to use THE only really good IM from today on.

Having question about how to use multiple accounts of one protocol you can write me to 01795222088@o2online.de , the subject of the email MUST be Miranda.

And will Miranda still support MSN Messenger after October 15th? Trillian will.

Miranda's MSN protocol is always being updated so I'll say yes to that one. But it's Yahoo hasn't been updated in a year and is now dead.

I like Miranda, but the main reason I prefer Trillian over Miranda, is the Meta Contacts option on Pro. I have friends on every messenger. This way I can have them ALL in my list, but under one name so it doesn't take up extra room.

Think Different!

The main thing I prefer about Trillian over Miranda is that, to be perfectly honest, I'm too lazy to bother setting up all those plugins. Sure it comes with the basic media preinstalled but it seems that just to get some of Trillian's basic features (history, systray alerts, advanced away system, tooltips, and... I can't believe this... a plugin to remember your status between sessions) you have to download and install plugins. No wonder there's 200 of them, most of them are to make up for miranda having a compact core.

It might be nice if you had the choice of downloading the "lite" version, a "medium" version (with the most popular plug-ins already included), and a "complete" version with all the bells-and-whistles. Similar to what WinAmp does with their MP3 player.

I like the plug-in concept, but as Jim mentions, it can be a pain, especially if there are some that we could all use.

The other option would be to provide a download that included all the most commonly used plug-ins preinstalled, with the option to remove them if you want to streamline the app.

Miranda may be the first to reach an agreement with microsoft!? Unless, of course Trillian beat them to it? Could you direct me to the statement made by the developers of Miranda and or Trillian announcing that they have signed a licensing agreement with MS, please... This is really big news!
