Hi all!
I have a website with a phpbb forum.
One function we dearly love is called Prillian. It is a phpbb instant messaging mod.
But as anyone who does their own forum scripting knows mods can be a pain when an update makes them uncompatible or buggy.
phpbb is developing phpbb 2.2. A major rewrite and upgrade.
To get to the point that means I will have to wait for a Pril mod to be created and debugged. Or find an alternative free standing system.
I want an IM system that is ONLY on my hosted server serving ONLY my membership. So it has to have a server residing registration and login.
Nice other features would be smilies, buddy and message save. Nice but not absolutely required.
Why not such as MSN, AOL, Yahoo an so on? Security. Too open to spamming, tracking, ease dropping and virus attacks.
I have done a ton of hunting for a freeware system since my site is non profit and I pay for the hosting and such, do my own installations and maintenance and such. Just don't need any more expenses and companies disappear or end up not giving support.
Since I have found nothing I thought I would ask here if anyone knew of such a system. The ones I did find either would not install or were complete business systems way to complex for the average user.
Anyone know of anything? Already looked at HotScirpts and all the major script sites. So they either have nothing or I missed it.
