What social networks do you use?
We've got forums for a couple of big social networks (Myspace and Facebook) but there are many more out there.
What social networks do you use? If there's enough support for it, we can open a dedicated forum for it! I'm also on LinkedIn, but I only add professional contacts (and people that I personally know). What other networks are out there? Should we add some fields to the member profiles here for links to your other social network profiles? Last edited by Jeff; 02-19-2008 at 06:01 PM. |

*Blush* I don't use any at the moment, Jeff. Maybe it's just me, but I like to see others testing the water really good, before I plunge in, lol. Uh, perhaps we could attach a poll to this thread?
Here's a comprehensive list of Social Networking websites, courtesy of Wikipedia. No doubt MySpace is the king, with 300,000,000 users! Last edited by Philip; 02-19-2008 at 08:31 PM. |

I'm on a few, though whether or not I actively log into them on a regular basis is another story.
Depending on how loosely you define "social networks," I'm on: -MySpace -Virb -Newsvine -Jaiku -Pownce -Last.fm -Flickr -del.icio.us -Yahoo 360 and probably a few others that I use so infrequently that I've forgotten I even have an account there. As I was going down the stair, I met a man who wasn't there. [ twitter ]He wasn't there again today; I wish I wish he'd go away. |

Yeah, the ones I'm active on are Facebook and Newsvine. I occasionally post something random on Flickr, and once in a while I'll regain enough interest in Twitter to bother putting something new on there. I sign into MySpace maybe once a month, and I don't remember the last time I was signed into Virb or Yahoo360.

None - as a teacher, it's not prudent (and can be cause for disciplinary action) to put ANYTHING up ANYWHERE. It's ridiculous actually, case in point just yesterday South High official on leave over sexy poems
![]() So sorry - no social networking for me. And what a loss it is to the educational community! Throwing the baby out with the bathwater is what it boils down to. Just think of the wonderful things we could share and link our kids to and all . . . grrrr! I know this particular article isn't about any of the networks, but we have been warned not to set up pages at all because of some issues of students interacting with teachers inappropriately through these vehicles.
