Problem connecting to msn with @live.com account in Pidgin

Is it just me or do @live.com accounts not work with Pidgin? I lack a hotmail or msn account now so I'm not able to try that out but does anybody know if connecting to a @live.com account requires different port or host login info? I tried Trillian as well and it too does not connect to my @live.com account. Anybody have any solution to this?

Trillian Pro works fine with my Live account (jeff at bigblueball.com), as does Digsby. I just tested with Adium, and it works there, too.

I know this doesn't solve your problem, but it does seem to indicate that it should work.

Hmm yeah I got it to work but for some reason I had to make my password shorter in order for it to work. I don't know why this fixes it but I can connect again. Strange I can connect just fine with a long password in Windows Live Messenger but in other clients I had to change my password to something shorter for it to work. *shrugs* Anyway thanks for your reply.

Sneaking in to say, Hi Ant! Long time no see here, and hope you can get this issue sorted out.

Are you still doing your music? Your inspirational songs are still in my shuffle and your version of Sanctuary is my all-time favorite.

I am only doing instrumental classical music now when I have the spare time to do so.
