Member of the Month - May 2006
I am pleased to inform you that this month the staff of BBB have voted Tea Granny as May's Member of the Month!
Here is what she had to say about her membership and time at bbb:
How did you find BigBlueBall? Wikipedia actually! I was trying to find an answer to an IM question and somewhere in all of my research it mentioned forums. So, I Googled for messenger forums and BBB was the first one mentioned. Once I found BBB; I had no need to go anywhere else!
What keeps you coming back? I am not sure what brings me back more; my own curiosity, variety in the forum itself, or the people!
How did you come up with Tea Granny as your username? It was a nickname given to me when I six years old. A large gathering had been arranged for the female relatives in my family, and my mother couldn't get a sitter for me so I ended up tagging along. I begged (whined) to join them! I couldn't understand why I wasn't allowed to join them; I was, after all, a female relative! Finally, my favourite Auntie caved in and gave me the weakest cup of tea on the planet. They all laughed and giggled at me saying; "Oh look, we have a future tea granny amongst us." I never stopped enjoying a cup of tea, and I never shook that nickname!
How long have you been using computers?I got my first computer this last Christmas, so it has been almost six months.
How long have you been instant messaging? It has also been about six months.
What's your preferred instant messenger? In all fairness, I have only tried one instant messenger and that's MSN messenger.
Why? Everyone I know has MSN messenger; so, if I wanted to talk to them I had to get MSN messenger.
What's your favorite BigBlueBall section... If I can only pick one, then it is "Off Topic."
...and why? It is the one place where everyone is just being themselves. It's a great place to laugh, cry, and even learn new things!
Anything else you'd like to add?Personally, I'm glad Jeff made this forum to include all of the instant messengers. There is something very comforting knowing all messengers experience problems; you don't feel so alone when something goes wrong. It's also nice to know that all of the messengers are popular and have a following of some really wonderful people.
It is really fantastic to receive an honor like this from such a terrific place! Thank you!
Congratulations, thank you for a great interview and I hope you enjoy wearing your bbb t-shirt with pride!

Congratulations TeaGranny!
You deserved every ounce of this award! Keep up the good work and providing support. You contribute a lot to our community and I thank you for that.
The support you give out is truly unique. I have never seen niceties and mannerism offered with support, support that is mostly accurate. Not only that, but it seems, to me anyway, that you never tire of helping others!
Keep at it, you have a lot of potential.
Thank YOU for everything you've done.

I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet.

I really want to thank you all for your kind words.
This award does mean a lot to me, for more reasons than most people may think. I won't bore you with all of them, but I will say it's wonderful that you can be considered an important part of a community even when you only make a small contribution.
It shows that BBB really is a community of people, and not just the best forum! (I'm biased!)
Thank you for making me feel like I am a part of the whole!
--- Mmmm!... Steeeeping!
