Skype taking an extremely long time to sign in

Skype seems to take me a very long time (like several minutes) to sign in. However, when I use another computer, it signs me in very quickly. Both of these computers are using the same wireless network, so the connection speed should be the same.

Does anyone know what might be the problem? By the way, I'm using version 3.0.0.198; will upgrading to the latest version solve the problem?

1. Have you confirmed your drivers for your wireless adapter are up to date on the slow to log in machine?
2. Was Skype behaving well before and just started acting up or is this perhaps a new computer to the network or the first time Skype was used on this machine?
3. Certainly it's usually advisable to keep your programs updated to the latest version, but that may or may not help the problem. I'd go ahead and update it unless you have a reason you don't want to.
4. Can you tell us what operating system you are using?
