Return of the King is the best hands down. It seems to be a mixture of the 1st two. As the first one was mainly story and the second was mainly action, it mixes together to form a great movie with a bit of both. The battle in the 3rd one is probably the best one i have ever seen.

How can you judge them individually, when they are but pieces of a whole? Best Trilogy ever, hands down. I personaly cannot choose a favourite section. I loved them each equally.

I agree with Shifter. They each add their own importance and greatness to TLOTR as a whole. Up till now Back 2 the Future was my favorite trilogy, but I have to say the torch has been passed.

I liked Two Towers the most because I think it saved the best part until the end (Helm's Deep), and it was just more cool with the elves and all. Return of the King kinda had the big battle in the middle of the movie and the end of the movie was mostly dialect (although it had to be). Also the battle at Pelennor Fields didn't seem as hard of a fight as Helm's Deep....kinda seemed too easy with the ghosts.

But this is definitely the best chain of movies ever. Killed both Matrix and Star Wars.

Return of the King was the best one. It just brought the whole thing together.

These movies were all great, I have trouble between which I thought was the best, I liked the battle for helm's deep in the two towers better then any in return of the king, but return of the king had some very good battle scenes. I liked what the two towers extended edition added to that movie, made me like it a lot more then I had from only the theatre version. It ended very nicely and left you satisfied as a movie should end. I didnt really like how the conclusion to the return of the king was done, I know it was the concluding part and needed to be there and I dont know how it could be better, but the movie just seemed to end at 5 points there, and then it kept on going after you thought that was it. I thought that was irritating, but the movie was great itself... hard to decide between the second 2 movies now for favorite.. I need to see when the extended edition of return of the king comes out...see what that has to add to make my final decision on the best. If the extended part adds enough to the movie, it would make it my favorite, but if it doesnt add to it at all, or worsens it any (I REALLY hope it doesnt do that) then the two towers would be my favorite.

And here comes Big Spruso, the only one who thinks FotR was the best. I just saw it as a classic. But I'll have to agree that you can't really judge them all seperately.

the battle in return of the king was the best one out of all three but i agree that you have to treat the three films as a whole. Also...
HOW CAN U NOT LIKE ANY LOTR FILMS?
sorry, everyones entitled to their own opinion (no matter how wrong they are)

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.
