The BBB Newsletter

Hello from an old friend.

A long-long while ago, I subscribed to the BBB Newsletter. Also a long-long while ago I updated my email address in the BBB profile. But for the last several months, I've been getting the BBB Newsletter delivered to the old email address. What's the scoop? Is there a link between the email list for BBB Newsletter and the BBB Member Profile?

Thanks!

There is no link between the newsletter and the member profiles, go to your old email address and view the last newsletter that you have recieved.

On the button of it, click Unsubsribe and follow through with that procedure. Then, go to our main webpage and resubscribe using your new email address.

Hovering over the "unsubscribe" link in the Newsletter displays an address very unfamiliar to me.

Just about EVERY SINGLE recommendation I've ever heard suggests NEVER clicking the unsubscribe link that comes in messages like this, as it will result in only adding me on other multiple mailing lists.

Don't get me wrong. I trust BBB, and even seem to remember going wine tasting with some of it's staff many years ago in another life. But I still hesitate clicking on the unfamiliar link to "roving.com" that is presented as the unsubscribe link.

Is there a better way? Can BBB assure me that this "roving.com" address is safe to click? Am I being overly cautious?

Thanks for your understanding.

Roving.com is the mailing list provider that we use to send our newsletter out. Yes, it is completely safe and we gurantee that you will not be added to any other mailing lists. In this case, you are being overly cautious. [] As you may have noticed, we don't do mass advertising here and all that.

If anyone is nervous about clicking the unsubscribe link, then can reply to the email and request that I unsubscribe them manually.

As Magistyk said, it is safe. Constant Contact (Roving) provides a reputable service. They require that all email addresses are opt-in or from a pre-existing relationship (i.e. forum membership). They also guarantee that no one else will ever get your email address from them.

Their ability to provide a service to sites like ours hinges upon their ability to guarantee that spammers and other abusers cannot use their system. If they didn't, they'd soon be blacklisted by most ISPs.

And Frank... was it something I said? Are you really unsubscribing? *sniff*

Possible he just wishes to unsubscribe THAT email, and resubscribe using another?

All done! I unsubscribed as suggested, then re-subscribed to the BBB Newsletter with a new email address.

One minor mental hiccup I experienced was that I un-subscribed from the "BBB Newsletter", yet re-subscribed to the "BBB Mailing List". Two differently-named things... yet the same. No problem, as this is just me being the picky-terminology kind of guy I am, right?

Thanks to all for the quick support. Now back to work.
