BBB Profiles - link to Yahoo profile
I'm SURE I raised this topic some months ago, but after 20min searching for it here I give up - and start afresh:

Two example users - Eagle_Kiwi and WilliamLee
And two example formats for the link to find their Yahoo Profiles - one is the current one in use on BBB, and the other is what would be MUUUCH more sense in there (and heaps simpler/cleaner too!).

Current link format - Eagle - searches, finds one - you click it, then get Profile
Current link format - William - searches, can't find him - even keying his ID into Advanced Search STILL can't seem to find him.
Better link format - Eagle Goes STRAIGHT to his Yahoo (360) Profile.
Better link format - William Goes STRAIGHT to his Yahoo (standard) Profile.

I'm not sure why Eagle and William give different results with the Current link, but who cares, as the "Better" one gives "better" - and consistent - results.

Exception - seems new Yahoo Ids with dots confuse either system, e.g. Spike (spike.li). But, you can't win' em ALL!

I made an adjustment to my signature adding a link to my yahoo profile. Is this a solution to your suggestion? or am I missing something?

Just for in case anyone needs past reference... i think this is the thread Ian is referring to.

And William he doesn't mean adding them to signatures, he means when you click on people's Y! ID in their BBB Profile, which then gives you the option to "view profile" and should take you to that person's profile.
I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet.

I think mainly the link will only work if the person is in the members directory which by chance I am not so it says profile not found.

Aha! THANK YOU William, that indeed sounds probably why some are "different". I must say I'd wondered a bit.

But all the more reason then to go straight to the Yahoo Profile, that EVERYONE (with a Yahoo Id) has, regardless of what "directory" they may choose to be in.

Now HatedJ has FOUND my lost thread, I assume this change WAS made earlier, but has since been lost with the newest update of vBulletin, so I daresay Jeff will/night resuscitate it soon.

(HatedJ - I googled for phrase "yahoo profile", which I see doesn't actually occur in that thread , then I also checked ALL my threads in the "Suggestions" forum - forgetting that the "Suggestion" had been resolved and thus moved to "Squashed bugs"!
What would we/I do without you ? )

Well i looked through all the threads you started because i vaguely remembered this topic and that it had been in the bug reports but had been "squashed."

Edit: Oh... i should add something to be on topic so here goes... Not many people are a part of the member directory (i'm not) so your suggestion is very logical and should be changed to go directly to profile instead, as you stated.

You're absolutely right, Ian. This previously fixed "bug" was reintroduced when we upgraded vBulletin. Thanks for surfacing the issue (reps up!). I've fixed it (again).
