Problem connecting to ICQ, Yahoo!, MSN with Tril..
I've installed Trillian v 0.73 but I couldn't connect through http proxy to ICQ, Yahoo! or MSN. I've configured the proxy in Trillian just like it is configured in the browser.
I've never had any problems connecting with Yahoo messenger, Hotmail messenger and ICQ.
This is the message I get (it's the same to MSN, Y! or ICQ)
*** Creating connection "myname@hotmail.com"
*** Disconnecting.
*** Connecting to MSN as "myname@hotmail.com", attempt #1.
*** Failed to connect to MSN (10056).
*** Connecting to MSN as "myname@hotmail.com", attempt #2.
*** Failed to connect to MSN (10056).
*** Connecting to MSN as "myname@hotmail.com", attempt #3.
*** Failed to connect to MSN (10056).
*** Connecting to MSN as "myname@hotmail.com", attempt #4.
.....
I would appreciatte if I anyone would tell me how to correct this problem, since I would very much like to try out Trillian.
Thanks
Rita

could it be the proxy settings? disable them, return everything to a blank entry and try again.
Just a thought.

I've tryied everything...
Disabling proxy settings, enabling them again... everything.
I've tried to install Odigo but I can't also connect with MSN, ICQ or Y! either, only with Odigo... but the only way I could do this was to set the HTTP proxy, and set the Firewall/Proxy Settings to Strict firewall...
Don't understand why I can connect with the messengers MSN, ICQ and Y! and not with one that allows me to connect to all...
Well, thanks anyway...

Obviously theres a problem with how Trillian gets around/thru the firewalls an its not as the other apps do it. Visit their site, theres forums there its reasonable to assume you not the first to find this lil problem, theres probably a fix there already.
What is the firewall your using? Is it hardware or software?
do you run spyware/add blocking software?
do you use a host file to bypass DNS lookup?
what is the proxy your using?

Without seeing the log its difficult to determine what the problem is.
I assume the log indicates what is wrong.
Post a copy of the log here.

Try right-clicking on the MSN connection icon in Trillian, try 'remove connection', and then go to the connection manager and reconnect the MSN account.
Silly workaround for a problem in the reconnect in current release, but it works surprisingly often.
