Trillian emoticons dont work properly

Wants to know why the emoticons arent showing properly on the list or in messages. I have windows 95, and supposedly trillian is mean to be compatible with it... but if that is so, wouldnt the emoticons work? I have no troubles with msn messenger or yahoo....so whats different with trillian?

Any ideas would be good

Since Trillian is a totally different platform, the emoticons r totally unrelated to msn messenger or yahoo....not sure what the problem seems to be here, but it sounds like a good reinstall may do the trick!! i no ur probably thinkin that this is the answer to everything but it usually manages to sort out a lot of unwanted problems!

Actually Trillian emoticons are not entirely unrelated to the other messengers. They created a "mapping" that is compatible with almost all of the the emoticons used by MSN, Yahoo, AIM, etc.

MerryOne, do you see the emoticon popup screen in Trillian? The one that lets you select a smiley to send? Or are you using keyboard shortcuts to send them?

Have you applied any skins to Trillian? The smileys are actually defined as part of the skin, allowing the skin developer to customize those, too (or eliminate them, if they hate smileys).

I'd suggest a reinstall might be in order, because they definitely do work. I haven't heard of any problems in Win95, and don't have an old machine around to test it though.

I downloaded Trillian once again, but the same trouble continues, with the emoticons. I dont know what to do next. I see the emoticons in the dropdown list. But as by my original message, they are only green red grey and white. I downloaded a skin, but with no change to emoticons. Any ideas?

Your OS (Win95) is corrupt and needs to be reinstalled.

Oh Drat! Think i might just forego windows 95, and save up for windows 98. 95 is becoming too much of a relic now.
Thanks for your help too.

If ur going to be saving up for a new OS, why cant u go for the big time and get XP ? would make a bit more sense that way, or are you really limited in cash?

In time i could get XP, with some saving. But to make it worth while, I would need a much bigger and updated computer. This one has only got 32mb of ram in it Which makes it rather slow to todays standards. Would it be worth me getting XP with this computer?..or even windows 98 for that matter.
