    Yahoo connection problems in Trillian

I received the following request from our feedback form, but unfortunately the person didn't leave a valid email address:
quote:I am unable to send or receive messages with Yahoo on Trillian. MSN and AOL work fine. I have downloaded the fix, but it did not work. Any suggestions?
I don't seem to be having a problem with Trillian Pro 2.0 and the latest patch. Is anyone else experiencing Yahoo connection problems?

I am, and so is Poweranimals.

We go to log on and a error message pops up says invalid password.

Like I said in my other post:
quote:It [changing scs.yahoo.com to scs.msg.yahoo.com] worked fine until I had to restart my computer, after that when I would go to log on to Yahoo it tells me that the password is invalid. This is nothing new to me, so I did what I alwasys did, I clicked on the error message, told it to save the settings and then I went to it in the tray and told it to reconnect from the right-click menu. That normally works but this time it didn't so I tried 3 more times and nothing worked just the same thing over and over. So I closed out Trillian completely and started it over and nothing works. I then removed the fix and I could log on but the buddies list thing problem was back. I did the fix again and the problem repeated itself.
I don't know if Poweranimals experienced the random 'misread' of password or not.

A little window pops up when I sign into Trillian, that says "Connection to Yahoo! has failed - invalid password. Click here to reset it."

    Hi folks
I just wanted to add to the posts. My Trillian 2.0 has stopped working with yahoo as well, I have applied the patch and changed the host, but no go, it just keeps telling me over and over again that I have an invalid password. If you get any insight how to fix this, please post as I am going to pull my hair out

I use Trillian Pro 2.0 and experience the same problem sometimes when connecting to yahoo. With the same error message "Connection to Yahoo! has failed - invalid password. Click here to reset it." But I just have to close that window and attempt to connect again and it works fine.

I use to do that, but that no longer works. As stated in the quoted section of my previous post.

Ooops, sorry, forgot to add this, should I try any other servers besides this one? scs.msg.yahoo.com

I thought I saw a list of 3 before, but cannot recall where.

    Thanks

The same thing has happened in both Gaim and Kopete under Linux. The standard Linux Yahoo Messenger client works fine.

Both will appear to connect correctly with no error messages but then the buddy list isn't downloaded, I can't see anyones online status and to everyone else I am offline. Any messages sent to me will be stored until I connect with the regular client where they are recieved as offline messages.

It appears Yahoo have put some kind of block on third party clients. I hope the brains at Cerulean Studios et al get this one figured out soon, I hate having to have the official Yahoo client running!

Well I can still connect and message fine with Trillian Pro 2.0, so it's not a total block. Pro 2.01 RC3 is out, maybe you could try that?
