Does any one here prefer Trillian over AIM??? I might try it out.

well, yeah... that's why we have this section. yeah I prefer it over aim, hands down. I got sick of aim getting progressively worse with each release (notice I say "release", not "upgrade") so I made the switch. I had tried it before and for some reason or another decided I didnt like it, but I dont remember now why not.
anyway, I went back to it and i'm lovin it. of course there's a few things that annoy me, like profile viewing (doesnt display html formatting, etc) but other than little stuff it works pretty well

Install the mini-browser plugin if you want HTML formatting in profiles.


My reasons or using Trillian:
* It works
* It doesn't have ads
* It isn't exploited every other week
* It's skinnable
* It has a clean interface, and a ton of options.
* AOL sucks
* AIM sucks
* AIM is loaded with adware
* Did I mention that AIM sucks?

what exactly is this mini-browser plugin and where do you get it? id like to know because sometimes I am forced to go on AIM to click links...so please answer yes thank you I prefer trillian over AIM with pretty much the same reasons as David...AOL IS crap AIM is becoming crappier as we speak and...adware blah spyware BLAH!
i am totally disgusted by what AOL and AIM are doing BLAH

Who cares? SuperBuddies is such a useless feature. I don't even use a buddy icon, forget that. Trillian is for the people that want to IM, not waste their time with frivolous things.

To each his own. Everyone is different. Some think Trillian has too much "fluff." But it is worth pointing out that there are some things that AIM does that Trillian does not do. Whether those things are important to you is a personal decision.

that's assuming i'm willing to shell out $25 for Pro. i'm a poor college student, i'm cheap. i'm not gonna pay for software. of course that doesnt necessarily mean i'm gonna try to pirate it (although I could very easily), but i'm content to use basic. sure there are things that are annoying, but hey I can deal with those.

for free, basic is worth every penny.
