The news went up on the front page minutes after Scott Werndorfer's announcement: Cerulean Studios Releases Trillian 3.0.
I really like Trillian 3.0. I've used Trillian for several years now, because it makes it easy to connect to AIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and ICQ. But this version not only adds excellent support for audio and video chat, but it does it even better than the native instant messenger programs.
I was checking out the audio/video chat features with a friend the other day. She was using MSN Messenger and I was using Trillian 3 Pro (the Pro version is required for video chat). Both the video and audio worked flawlessly over my broadband connection, with both of us sending and receiving audio and video. That alone would have impressed me, but then Trillian goes even further.
Trillian allows you to change the webcam view to picture-in-a-picture, remote camera only, side-by-side display, detached windows or even full screen. On top of that, you can click to save a snapshot at anytime, and you can do a TiVo-like "instant replay" of the last 15 seconds of your video chat. I was impressed.
My hat is off to the entire Cerulean Studios crew. They have truly done an outstanding job on Trillian 3.
