Allow messages from unknown people

In the new version of Trillian (the free one), is there a way for me to change it so that messages from people who aren't on my contacts list can still send me messages? It seems that if they aren't on my list, their messages won't come through.

is this specific to a particular service, like aim or msn, or is it overall no messages? i'm using Trillian Basic 3.0 and i can receive messages from people who arent on my contact list perfectly fine.... i used an AIM screenname that wasnt on my list to send a message to my trillian account, and got it without any problems.

I'm pretty sure it's like that with all the different messengers. I've experienced the problem with Yahoo, AIM, and MSN on Trillian.

Have you tried going to Connection Preferences when you are signed on to each messenger service? The AIM one has the same option where you can allow all users to contact you even if not on contact list.

I have the opposite problem....people keep messaging me from Yahoo! who most certainly are NOT on my list and I do not want them to message me. (I do not even know who they are!) And whereas they were blocked on Yahoo! they seem to be getting through on Trillian...so I'd have to say...yeah...people not on your list can certainly get through...I just wish they could not do so! I'll look for the preferences things Miami Guy...thanks for the tip!

Yeah it should work. By the way if you don't know where Connection Preference is just click on each circle that you are connected to and go to Privacy.

About getting messaged by people you don't know. Seems like people from BBB have added me and I have no idea who. That's what I get for putting up my info so I'll be removing that. Whoever wants to add me can ask me personally .

I've tried that, and it still doesn't work. Just yesterday, someone invited me to a chat on MSN, and I think they were on my list too, but I guess since there were some people there that weren't on my list, it just put it away. Trillian throws messages from people not on my list into the 'Window' area.
