Buddy Icons for Jabber plugin

Hello everyone. I'm new to using trillian pro 3 and had a question that I hope hasn't already been posted - if so, I apologize. I setup installed the Jabber 3.1 plugin and configured it for Gtalk. Everything works great except it doesn't pull the buddy icons. I know this isn't a big deal, but I find that strange that this is a standard feature in a free program like GAIM. Am I doing something wrong or is there a different plugin I need to install?

Since it's a general Jabber connection and not specifically for Gtalk (like GAIM has), some features won't always work, such as buddy icons. I know clients such as GAIM and Adium both have specific Google Talk plugins, while Trillian only has a general Jabber plugin. You aren't doing anything wrong, it's just that not all features work quite correctly.

I'm using Trillian Pro 3.1 and was able to get Buddy Icons to work for the Jabber plug-in, however, I don't have any contact with anyone using Gtalk.

For your Buddy Icon to be visible to other Trillian Pro w/Jabber plug-in users, create a 64x64 pixel .jpg Icon and select this as your default icon for Trillian Pro.

If you want your buddy icon in a higher resolution, like 96x96, you'll need to:

1. Install Psi
2. Configure Psi with your Jabber login details
3. Connect
4. Modify account
5. Browse for your 96x96 pixel jpg icon
6. Click on "Publish"
7. Save changes
8. Close Psi

Upon completing this drudgery, any Trillian Pro user who has you as a Jabber contact will be able to see a much larger icon when they mouse over your buddy icon in their Trillian contact list.

Needless to say, the Jabber plug-in leaves MUCH to be desired, as it is lacking some important features:

1. The inability to publish larger buddy icons (how come Psi can do this?)
2. No browsing of available chat rooms
3. No browsing or adding of other transports (of course, this is not so interesting for Trillian users)
4. Non-functional "Search for a Contact..." pop-up list item

I'm eagerly awaiting more development of this plug-in.
