Skype: Coming soon to a mobile near you?

Skype has sent out a survey to some of their users, asking them for opinions on subscription service that puts Skype on your mobile phone.

Some of the features they suggest such a service might include:
  • Bi-directional syncronization of your mobile phone book with your Skype contacts
  • Sending files, including camera phone images
  • Online presence awareness
  • Instant messaging
  • Low/no-cost Skype calls
  • Skype conferencing
  • Location services (find Skype friends near me)
  • Inexpensive SMS
The price point mentioned was $6 per month, and an additional $2 for instant messaging capabilities.

And so the question to you is, would you use Skype on your mobile? How much would you pay for it?

Skype on my cell would certainly be attractive to me for when I'm away from the computer and just have to Skype, but one of the things I really like about the online service is that there is no charge for talking with folks all over this big blue ball. I like the features they mention, but don't think I'd use them enough to warrent spending $96 a year for the convenience. For folks who travel or are away from their computer, or use Skype for business this would make more sense, but since my Skyping is for recreational purposes (at the moment) I think I'll just use it on the computer.
