Microphone help

I have a Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000, which has a built-in microphone. Does anyone have suggestions about use and settings for use of the mic in chat rooms. I have tried using Yahoo Audio Set-up Wizard, but I can't seem to get the darned mic set up so it works properly. I have attempted to use their suggestions about placement of the speakers, etc. and still really can't get a good microphone sound. Is the ONLY solution to use headphones? Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the only thing you can do is increase the sensitivity of MIC from the Control Panel -> sounds option... or the little Speaker Icon in your system tray... but this will cause other probs like Echo as the mic will also pic up the sound from ur surrounding like from computer speaker... the best option is buy a mic... or use the headphone as a MIC... for that, insert the headphone socket in the MIC input of your computer... now use the RIGHT speaker as a mic...

OOPS!!! Did I say that!!! Music is playing... can you hear it

or you could get a headphone with a microphone attached to it. They might not always look nice, but at least that way you can be sure the sound is always good, and you won't have to use a headphone as your mic
