Snag-it by TechSmith will let you capture any portion of your screen to an AVI file. You can specify the entire desktop or just a specific region (say, your girlfriend's webcam). You'll want to keep the webcam image on top at all times, otherwise it will record whatever window happens to be on top and in the region specified.

Also, make sure you have your girlfriend's permission. In many places, it's illegal to record someone without their knowledge.

It saves video in AVI format. Snag-it is a great tool from screen capture of any kind. I think it's pretty user-friendly, but then I've been using it for a few years.

It's a commercial program, but there's a free trial you can download to test.

Hi, I'm new here!
Just thought I would mention this facility for screen capture that is fast, effective and FREE;
ScreenHunter 4.0 Free
It can be downloaded from http://www.wisdom-soft.com/downloads/downloadfiles.htm

SnagIt has one fundamental flaw, that being that it stops recording after fifteen or so minutes, without any error message. I found this out the hard way yesterday when I was recording a webcam and had a lot which I wanted to keep. Unfortunately, SnagIt simply returned to the main screen and lost all my recordings
i'll give this other program a try, though.

Was this the evaluation copy? Because I've had no problem with the commerical copy.

As with any video capture, your recording time is usually constrained by available disk space. Is it possible that you ran out of disk space?
