Help us test BigBlueBall Mobile beta

Today I added a new feature that makes the BigBlueBall forums accessible on your mobile phone, PDA, smartphone, Blackberry or even an iPhone. Point your mobile browser to http://www.bigblueball.com/forums/ and we will now automatically detect if you are browsing on a mobile device and give you a specially formatted version of the forums I call BigBlueBall Mobile.

Unfortunately, I don't have a full range of devices to test this on, so I need your help. If you've got a mobile device capable of browsing the web, please give it a try. Post a reply here with the make and model of your mobile phone or PDA, whether it worked (or not), and any feedback you can offer. You'll get extra points for screenshots!

Bear in mind that this is a very early beta. It should work just fine, but it won't be very pretty.

Hope you'll find BigBlueBall Mobile a good way to stay in touch even when you're not near your computer.

I thought I would give it a test on my phone Nokia N70 and I just got an error message, worth a shot though!

Sarah, thanks for testing. What is the error message you get? Can you take photo of the screen using another camera and upload that?

I tested it on my iPhone, and I think it works. It looks different, but with ugly colors and really small text. It's not really iPhone friendly.

Doesn't appear to work on my iPAQ hw6515a. Looks like the normal forum, which doesn't fit well on the tiny iPAQ screen and is really a pain to read.

I would love to see a mobile version of the forum. Right now, it loads to slowly to use on my mobile, but if it were quick, functional and easy, I could be on here all the time.

Now if only the arcade worked on my mobile. ;)

lol I just checked it was nothing to do with you, its a new phone and apparently I need to prove I am over 18, that's a first. Will sort it with my provider tomorrow and test again ;0)

Samsung Blackjack didnt seem to like it - didn't fit the screen and the logo was over some of the text

Doris, thanks for the feedback. The mobile version wasn't displaying then, because there are NO graphics included in the mobile version. It should look similar to the screenshot that Fanatic posted above.

It appears that I need to do add recognition for some additional browser agents (a string that helps the webserver identify exactly what web browser you're using).

I'm using a Blackberry Pearl 8130, and the site loads as it before, with no change. It loads graphics (like the bigbluenetwork) and just stacks the categories.

Ok, I've narrowed down the problem to a conflict with our "default" theme in the BigBlueBall forums. It does work in the news forums, however (at least, it did in my testing).
