October 6, 2004 On October 2nd, we brought you the information that the unofficial beta build of MSN Messenger 7 was released, only days after initial word of 7.0 being available to only selected testers world wide. (If you still haven’t grabbed a copy, get one NOW!) On October 6, 2004 Microsoft released a CVR to block access to those using the new beta build. Fortunately, someone from the mess.be forums created a patch that dumps 11 random characters over the MSNMSGRBETA string sent on the Notification Socket, which tricks it into thinking it’s some random other client. You can get a copy of the patch here. Now other than connectivity, here are some other useful things to know about 7.0.
