Check your cipher strength in Internet Explorer. Security Tools are shared with MSN Messenger. Go to Help|About Internet Explorer|Cipher Strength:. If it's not 128 Bit. That would explain the problems you are having.

My problem started on the 18th of June 2004...
The problem is, MSN messenger refuses sign me in. This hasn't happened before :/ I use Windows Messenger, even though I have MSN 6.2. [6.2 never worked properly; it never sent all the messages I typed and I never received all the messages sent to me.] Error message: [On Window Messanger]:"Signing into .NET Messenger Service failed because the password is incorrect or the sign-in name does not exist. If you have forgotten your password, click Help in the main window, and then click Help Topics" [On MSN Messenger 6.2]:"Sorry, we could not sign you in because the sign-in name you entered does not exist or your password is incorrect. If you have forgotten your password, please click Help in the main Messenger window, and then click Help Topics for instructions on resetting yout password. 0x81000303" I went to MSN for support, I got nowhere... I tried e-mailing their support, but whenever I'd click 'Submit' I'd get 'This page cannot be displayed'. I've also tried to sign in through www.hotmail.com, but I also got 'This page cannot be displayed', even when I refreashed it three zillion times. Windows Messenger and MSN 6.2 USED to sign me in.. suddenly it died. My password is DEFINATELY correct, as is my user name. No one could have hacked it, as I've tried with 5 different accounts, each with different passwords, and none of them work. No one could have got into ALL of them. Resetting my password doesn't work, because the site doesn't load. Also, the date on my computer is correct =x I got Ad-aware, scanned my computer and deleted all the junk, I scanned it with Norton recently, no virus'. Comp & Internet specs: 451 mhz Intel Pentium III processor 192 MB of sdRAM 13 Gig Harddrive Windows XP Professional Internet Explorer 6 115.2 kbps internet connection (ISDN) I tried signing into MSN through Trillian, but it fails to connect EVERYTIME. What the heck is going on >.< |

Hi everyone, i've read all the pages and still MSN messenger won't work. I keep getting error 0x81000306. i've tried everything said but nothing works. been happening for about 3 weeks now. Yahoo and Trillian both work fine, I have XP home, Zone Alarm (but it doesn't work when that was totally uninstalled so I reinstalled it anyway), IE6, apparently MSN 6.2 (yet to see what its like)...[i was on 6.1 b4 it refused to sign me in, so when I uninstalled I had to upgrade to 6.2]. tried changing passwords and everything...nothing has changed. help?

Shadow Flix, It is possible that some piece of spyware has messed with your hosts file. Scan your machine for hosts and open it with notepad. the only unremarked entry should be 127.0.0.1 Local Host. In WinXP it's in the windows\system32\drivers\etc folder. Any sites listed there with the IP 127.0.0.1 will be directed back to your own machine and you would get the page not found error

i have MSN messenger version 6.2 which I hav been successfully using for te past 3 weeks. 2 days back I had signed in on MSN messenger and suddenly my display name was automatically changed to something like "[k][k]des ..." etc etc. which I guess was not english. so I tried to change the name back to my normal name and I was signed out automatically. all further attempts at signing in hav failed. but I can still signin to my hotmail account with the same id and password(which I even tried changing).
also I can sign in to MSN messenger using my other id's .but I hav no contact list on tht id so its kinda useless. does anybody know why this is happening or is it a virus? how should I get rid of it? could anybody please help , I read zool facing a similiar problem ZOOL if your problem is solved, please guide me as to how you got rid of it |
