hey i realized that if your computer always freezing up when signing into 6.0 that you might have PLUS and that you need to uninstall that because it is not compatable with 6.0 at the time or you have to go to the forum dealing with 6.0 and plus to fix your problem...i hope that is what was screwing up yer messenger!

update: i still am not allowed to sign into 6.0 even after i got rid of plus and my dates and time are right so what else can i do?

Ok I Emailed Msn and they told me to clear my lan settings. And that didnt work at all it was already cleared. I think Msn needs to take a look at there program a lil more.

I have XP Pro on four computers, and it worked perfectly on the ones that had SP1 installed, but failed on the other two. Updating to the latest service packs and patches fixed it, so you might visit www.windowsupdate.com and make sure your running all the latest updates to Windows and IE.

This should fix the sign in problems... the freezingness ! try it for ur other problems too! it refreshes the main msn software basically!

DO this....

1. Exit msn messenger completely
2. click Start, then Run, type "regedit" and click OK
3.Then go to (they look like small folders) :

MyComputer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MS NMessenger.

Click the 'MSNMessenger' key (Do not double click! just highlight it so it should turn blue)

then go to the Edit menu, and then click Delete.

Click "Yes" to confirm the operation.

4. Install your msn 6 file and sign in!

5. Enjoy the coolness of msn 6 and its sexy look but be sad at the ram sukingness that it is l[]l = \

Adi0s. SLip (xchampionx@hotmail.com) <---MAIL me for more specific instructions if u are not too confident.

feedback on whether this fixes your problems would be nice.

I did the process where you go to regedit and stuff.. and it.. WORKED...wooooohoo i didn't think it was going to but it worked and MSN 6.0 rocks! If you have windows ME, and are having trouble signing in to msn messenger 6.0 (it freezes when halfway through sign in) follow the process that Deft0nes and someone else suggested! I did..and was very doubtful but it DOES work. Thank you VERY much!!!!!

We all get this from time to time, even when the .NET status IS available. I actually had this problem a few days ago. Let it stand for a few minutes. Then try again. It took me about 60 minutes before it allowed me to sign back in. Just give MS some space to breathe.

Hello guys,

i'm new to this useful forum !

I want to suggest a possible solution to the problem of "signing in" MSN Messenger 6.0. Basing on the messages posted here and on my personal experience i can say that the problem is situated in system registers. There is a sort of confusion of parameters when you install MSN Messenger 6.0 after you have installed a previous version ora a version of Windows Messenger (like 4.7). I have tried to delete the register key "MyComputer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MS NMessenger" as suggested here, but it doesn't work in my winXPpro. The error message in my case is: "...service unavailable...".

So i have found a trick to cheat the system register in winXPpro: create a new user account administrator, then connect with this new account and HERE install MSN Messenger 6.0, after having closed any other version of the program. I could not believe, but IT WORKED! Not only in this new account but also in the other i used before!! It is clear that doing so you force WinXP to install the system register keys related to MSN Messenger 6.0 in a different position and this fact seems to solve the problem, at least in my case !!!

Ok that's all.

Bye

I reinstalled XP Pro and tried msn 6 beta but it wouldn't work. MSN 5 and Windows messenger both worked, just not 6. I kept browsing through forums and saw that many people have the same problem but no solution. Well I finally found the solution. The year was wrong on my clock. It read 2002. I changed it to 2003 and now it works!! This fixes the MSN explorer problem too...

This solved my problem!!! It was the date that was wrong all the time! Im well chuffed now!! Ive got msn 6!!
