Possible Alternate 1603 Error Fix
Hey,
I was previously having the 1603 error with MSN 7.0. The Error stated; {E2DF0D9D-AB98-4BBF-AF55-B5B502DB932C} HRESULT: -2147024894 Here is how I fixed it. A program called wintools is possibly on your computer. This cannot be removed by simply deletion or Ad-Aware. You must manually go to Control Panel --> Add/Remove Program--> and Uninstall Wintools search bar. It will say you must be online to uninstall. Click Yes. I did this While in Safe mode, but I don't see why it wouldn't work otherwise. I hope this helps. Ashley |

ERROR CODE 1603 (downloading/installing MSN messenger) - Here's how I fixed the probl
I had the same problem - I have been out of the country for 6 weeks and when I returned I tried to download messenger but could not complete the install due to an error - code 1603. I called a friend & he came over and figured it out. He installed and ran Lavasoft ad aware ( which found and removed no less than 650 popup/ad problems ), and he ran Spybot, then Norton antivirus. GUESS WHAT ??? IT WORKED. We then went on to install msn messenger swiftly, and without a problem.
This is definitely worth a try. |

I have been trying for couple of months to install MSN Messenger; have tried {b]all[/b] suggestions posted here, other boards, and even suggestions/instructions from the MSN Messenger (Microsoft) gurus themselves... they even brought in the big guns (bigger shots) but could not pin-point the problem nor the solution.... I gave-up in disgust!

This is what I did and it fixt the problem.
Open the \winsxs folder (Start, Run, winsxs). Delete the folder named \x86_Microsoft.Windows.Networking.RtcDll_6595b6414 4ccf1df_5.2.2.1_ or a file similar to this name. Restart the installation; the problem should be solved. Let me know if it works for you guys. |

I too had the problem of "could not find key". I went into regedit through the run pompt. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MessengerSer vice\Clients.
Right click on clients and select permissions, then allow full access and read for the user profile you are trying to install MSN Messenger under. The problem being that Your user did not have the allowance to install into the registrdy folder. |

Mr. Heavy - Yours sound like a logical solution, since the file in question is the one causing the hang-up (it's in my case), the problem is/has been that I do not have that file in my system... back to square one. Thanks, anyway.
