Display Pictures and Backgrounds Missing

My display pictures will not work and my backgrounds will not
work, I have screenshots of the error messages I get here:

I have no backgrounds to select from as you can see. When I manually chose a
picture to put in my display the little display box shows up with the default
messenger icon in it for like a split second and then disappears. I have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling everything and tried new versions of msn but
nothing has worked, I have even deleted messenger from my registry aswell and
nothing changed.

Is there anyway to get rid of the program so my computer doesnt have a trace of
it and I can install it or is there a way to fix this probelm?? I use to have
no porblems with my siaply picture and then one day it stoppped working! Please
help!
