Changing MSN Passport e-mail to use Messenger
I changed my MSN passport e-mail from Lycos to the one I just got from Google. I'm able to sign-in to MSN Messenger 6.2, yet I can't see people online nor do they can see me online. I already pass the e-mail verification process otherwise I wouldn't be able to sign-in. Has anyone been able to work around this problem?
I didn't wanted to create a new passport and add all my contacts to the new profile, but it seems that's only way to go. |

Since no other solution was given in this forum I decided to contact MSN support. They confirm the problem and send the issue to their "Technical Support Staff". Although I don't expect them to fix the problem right away, at least I know that the issue is just another bug in one of Microsoft programs.

I logged-in to the MSN Passport website and changed my e-mail for that profile from lycos to gmail. The idea was to change the e-mail without creating a new passport profile so that my contacts didn't have to remove the old e-mail and add me again to their contact list.
If I instead would have created a new passport profile with the gmail e-mail (although I could have import the contacts from one profile to the other) everyone would had to delete my "old contact" and add me again with the new e-mail. However, as pointed out previously, what I did only allowed me to logged-in but none of my contacts was able to see me online. I only wanted for my contacts to save the trouble of removing/adding me to their list, but instead I created a lot of trouble for me. |

Online status errors
I am having exactly the same problem.
I updated my email on the passport page and ever since, i cant see if my contacts are on line, and they cant see when im online. The only way i have found of getting round it is you add them again when you know they are online. If you get any answers please pass them on. |
