Background colors changing

Hello, I hope you can fix my problem.

Everytime I set a color or a wallpaper as a default, it won't save, when I restart the msn, it'll always show the blue default without the wallpaper I put, this is been happening since a long time now, like 6 months, no matter if I reinstall, uninstall, fix, remove, or whatever.

I even installed the v7 beta, uninstalled the plus, and I had to reinstall the 6.2, nothing changed.

What should I do?

Hello there Kycha,

The problem here is that uninstalling/reinstalling MSN Messenger (any version) doesn't clear the registry keys that MSN Messenger uses. As such, your settings are saved, which is why it doesn't solve your problem.

Also, oddly enough this behaviour is a feature, not a bug, just for your information.

To fix your problem, do the following:

1) Go to your MSN Messenger contact list (the main window)

2) Click on the Tools menu.

3) Click on Options...

4) According to your MSN Messenger version, the solution is slightly different due to a new options GUI.

If you are running MSN Messenger 6.x (eg. 6.2) then do the following:

a) On the top of the options window, click on the Privacy tab.
b) Then find "This is a shared computer so don't store my address book, display picture, or background on it." and uncheck the checkbox next to it. This is usually the last checkbox.
c) Click Apply, then OK.
d) Continue chatting and personalising your MSN Messenger!

If you are running MSN Messenger 7, then do the following:
a) Down the side of the options window, click on the Privacy tab.
b) Then find "This is a shared computer so don't store my address book, display picture, or background on it." and uncheck the checkbox next to it. This is usually the second last checkbox.
c) Click Apply, then OK.
d) Continue chatting and personalising your MSN Messenger!

Hopefully this helps, if not, please reply with any information you think will help us solve your problem and I'll try my best to find a solution to your problem.

Thanks for your time.

Thank you so much for answering, but that won't work as I already probed it, actually I was thinking there must be a way to delete the settings, but I already did to, and that way I deleted all the emoticons I added to the msn, and the weird thing is that everytime I reinstalled it, the msn never asked for my e-mail or password again, even if I deleted that folder, maybe there are another settings on the disk that are not under the msnwhatever name, could that be possible? maybe those settings are making the classic blue a default, without me able to change it.
