Display Pics Dont Work

Ok Im Having A Problem With Display Pics And I Was Wondering If Osmeone Could Help Me

I Cant Have A Display Picure On Messenger When I Try To Put One It Gives Me This Message

Your Display Pictures Cannot Be Used. Please Create New Ones.

And No Pictures Are There...so I Installed Messenger Again And Still It Didnt Work...when I Do Put A Picture Of Mine On It Lets Me But Then It Doesnt Show And Is Deleted From The Box Where The Display Pics Should Be...

Someone Told Me I Should Try This

It Sounds Like Your Display Picture "cache" Of Images Has Been Corrupted. To Fix, Click Start, Then Run, Then Type:
%appdata%\microsoft
And Click Ok.
Right-click The Msn Messenger Folder And Choose Delete. After All This, Restart Messenger And See If The Problem Has Been Fixed.

But When I Do I Get This Error Message

Windows Cannot Find '%appdata%\microsoft'. You May Have Typed The Name Incorrectly In The Run Dialog, Or Another Open Program Cannot Find A System File. To Search A File, Click The Start Button And Then Click Search.

I Also Tried Putting It In Like This Appdata\microsoft But Still I Get The Same Error

Im Using Windows Me

Anybody Know What I Can Do

Hello,

Follow everything you were doing above, except do not delete the MSN Mesenger Folder.

Move all the contents in the MSN Messenger Folder (%appdata%\microsoft\MSN Messenger\) to somewhere else on your PC as a backup.

You should now have an empty MSN Messenger folder (%appdata%\microsoft\MSN Messenger\).

Your Display Pics in MSN Messenger will now be reset to default and you will be able to add your own display pics again.

Goodluck!

p.s. You can add me to MSN at chapahilla@hotmail.com if my explanation above does not make sense.

I'm having problems installing my wireless USB adapter. The computer will not connect to the internent. I get a message that states, " An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket." Any clues on how to fix this???

Display Picture Issue

If you are running Zone Alarm it can cause your display pictures not to be shown.
This is a known issue with Zone Alarm and Windows Live Messenger, both are working on a fix, for now your best bet is to...

If you updated your Zone Alarm to 6.5 downgrading will resolve the issue.

Zone Alarm 6.5 is a beta.

Download Zone Alarm 6.1 the most stable version for now , you have to uinstall the version that you have now - run the installer and do a clean install , it will downgrade the software and all your problems will be solved.

You can download this version at:
