Problem adding contacts...help!

hi there

has anyone else had problems adding people?? i gave my email address out to someone i met at a uni open day, but when they added me an error message appeared and they were not added to my contact list

the usual pop up appeared to say that someone is trying to add me to their
contact list, and i clicked "ok" to allow this, however shortly afterwards another
pop up appeared to inform me of problems with altering my address book, and
advised me to try again later. Of course, I have no way of trying this again.

the person that attempted to add me has not appeared on either my block list,
or my "see who has added you to your contact list" list.

i contacted the msn help ppl, but they were useless lol

If anyone can suggest a way of sorting this mess out it would be great...i really wanna talk to this person again, and the only way i can at the mo is via msn

well tbh i havn't really done much, i've contacted the messenger tech assistance ppl to try to get them to add me to the other person's contact list, but they are unable to do that due to privacy regulations...even tho she was adding me when the problem occured

at the time of the problem, i was running xp home with msn messenger 7.5 and the latest msn plus. I have since uninstalled both and reinstalled 7.5 only. i am using mcafee personal firewall plus.

i would describe myself as reasonably computer literate, however apart from what i have done already i have no idea what else i can try. if you can suggest anything it would be appreciated.
