How to record MSN voice conversations

Often people ask me if it is possible to record and save the live voice stream of a chat partner on MSN Messenger. The answer is: yes. Download Freebird's vEmotion with recorder, an excellent program to record a IM conversations. It is able to voice conversations on Msn, Skype, Gtalk, AIM and QQ (I don't know this IM).

Here is a screenshot image I have gotten from their website:

Install the program and startup it. In the user interface displayed in the above image, press down the last button on the toolbar to enable recording. Then start a voice conversation with your friends. The converation is recorded automatically. As you finish the converation, following window is displayed. It allows you to fill some infos for this new record.

(I copy this image from the user manual of the program, so it shows a Skype call record.)

In the above window, enter a topic for the new record, which will be displayed in the record list. And type anything you want to say about the conversation as "Comments". Also you can select more than one image to be stored together with the voice. Aha, most exciting, by selecting a different audio frequency from the pull-down box which located directly beneath the text "Change Frequency", you can save the recorded voice with prefered frequency. Okay, done with all of these, click the button "Save Record".

After the record is saved, one new item will be added into the record list in the user interface. Switch to "Call Records" window by clicking the tab. In the call record list, the newly recorded lies there.

Is it simple? yes? Also I have tried this program with AIM triton. It turned out to be a nice tool.

Hope this article helps.

Sounds interesting!

But the cost puts me off trying it.
I find that the "free" version will record only 5 conversations, then zilch(?), until you pay US$19.
I'm also personally wary of a site that seems to show no actual location - not even the country of operation (I'd guess maybe China ... but I don't send money to "web addresses" without knowing SOME sort of background).

Also, I notice the following, re Skype, on their site:
Quote:
NOTE: vEmotion can not record Skype. We recommend Powergramo for you to record Skype calls.
Further, just a warning, in some countries it may be illegal to record private conversations. I suggest users be aware of their laws before trying such tools.

Has any BigBlueBall member USED this program successfully ?
I'd be interested, but I'm not going to be the guinea pig.

A simple free solution exists

A free new beta software called SoliCall will record you calls with no hidden limitations.

In addition, it reduces background noise so the conversation is more relaxed.

BTW, Eagle_Kiwi please note that it can also record calls made with Skype, Google Talk and any other softphone ...

You can download it at SoliCall - Noise Reduction Software and Recorder
